… what will day 2 bring?
Morning!
My report on day one of Gareth Jenkins’ evidence to the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry can be found here:
Gareth Jenkins: the incredible witness
I touch on his belief in the robustness of the Horizon system, his superiority complex, his lack of investigation into global bugs, errors and defects in the Horizon system, his conflict of evidence over his instruction as an expert witness, his belief in the guilt of Subpostmasters and his refusal to accept Mr Justice Fraser’s Horizon Issues judgment.
Other takes:
Wrongly jailed sub-postmistress rejects apology – BBC
Ex-Fujitsu engineer tells Post Office inquiry that Horizon system was ‘robust’ – FT
Ex-Fujitsu engineer admits changing court testimony at request of Post Office – Guardian
Many more are available.
I am not going to be live-tweeting Jenkins for the rest of the week, but if you want to see which documents came to light yesterday, you can see a blow-by-blow account here.
The lack of live tweets (or tedious England matches) will give me an opportunity to get a piece up about Day 2 of Jenkins evidence tonight, though I am taking my daughter to a “pre-prom” where we stand around looking very proud of our 16 year olds before they head to their actual “prom” in their finery. I know, I know, didn’t happen in my day, either.
Thanks for all the comments. Back soon.
Nick
