Fujitsu staff named and barrister carpeted
Hello
There were extraordinary moments at the Court of Appeal today. First, a barrister admitted handing a confidential document to a journalist – her brother – in possible breach of the law. Secondly, the former Fujitsu employees under criminal investigation were named in open court.
I have written up both instances as contemporaneous court reports on www.postofficetrial.com and all of a sudden I feel like I’m doing so at considerable personal risk.
What happened in court today was horrible to witness. I have never felt more exposed as a journalist – like I am one false sentence or move away from all kinds of disaster. At times like this, I don’t know why I bother.
I suppose I have just had the faintest whiff of what many of the campaigning Subpostmasters whose cases were under discussion today experienced directly at the hands of our great criminal justice system.
Thanks again for your continued support. And if there are any legal eagles who spot any obvious legal missteps in either of the articles I have written, please hit reply tell me before too many people notice…
Cheers
Nick
