Secret email about the Post Office Scandal. Shh!

Claimants’ statement of objection to the Post Office appeal application

All roads lead to Rome: a Statement of Objection

Hello secret emailers.

It’s gone midnight again, I’ve just finished a 13 hour shift at ITN towers but I have documentation you might be interested in…

When the Post Office first submitted its appeal to the Court of Appeal, it was rejected out of hand.

Lord Coulson said he would accept a 50 page skeleton, nothing more, and he gave the Post Office until 4pm on Friday 28 June to deliver it or the high court judgment would stand. The Post Office met the deadline.

As part of the same order, Lord Coulson told the claimants to get a 10 page statement of objection in by Friday 12 July.

This they have done, and I have a copy of it. For those of you who would rather read my interpretation of the statement, I have written it up here.

I have also written a birra whimsy on what to call the claimants now, in the eyes of the Court of Appeal they are also respondents. It’s called “Speak My Language“.

Finally, for those who missed it yesterday, here is the latest litigation road map, called The Long March to, er, March.

Once again – thanks so much for all the correspondence and kind words. It means a lot.

Yours

Nick
