Secret email about the Post Office Scandal. Shh!

Bates is Knighted! plus Parsons Day 2 – “force the claimants to burn money”

Arise Sir Alan!

Alan Bates leaving court after his stunning victory in the Common Issues trial

Quite the couple of days! First we had all remaining Postmaster convictions in Scotland quashed, and now this – a gong for Mr Bates. Someone said they’re going to have to rename the ITV drama Sir Alan vs The Post Office – but it doesn’t quite have the same ring, does it?

I’ve written up Sir Alan’s news and offer him my warmest congratulations. As former Subpostmaster Mark Baker noted on twitter – Alan might be the first ever Subpostmaster to be knighted – quite an achievement. Maybe he’ll now get the Chairmanship of a large NHS Trust and a seat on the Cabinet Office board. Both organisations could do with an injection of moral integrity.

Parsons Knows

Speaking of moral integrity – watching Womble Bond Dickinson’s Andy Parsons give evidence over the last couple of days has been like watching a black hole of moral integrity in human form. Dickinson was the man who plotted Bates downfall in the group litigation. That worked out well for him. I’ve written up Parsons’ second day of evidence here.

RonunIan

I am very much looking forward to being at the Inquiry on Tuesday – Ron Warmington and Ian Henderson (two men also deserving recognition for their dogged pursuit of the truth) are giving evidence. I hope it goes well for them and actually gets a bit of publicity. This election business is taking up a lot of bandwidth.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. I might spend it slumped on the sofa watching six hours of Euros football – I did do parkrun this morning so I think I’ve got an excuse!

Very best

Nick
