Secret email about the Post Office Scandal. Shh!

Post Office Trial secret email update 21 Dec

It’s beginning to look a lot like…

Hello secret emailers!

Sorry I’ve been quiet of late. The day after the trial finished I went back to ITV News and I’ve been there since, working on a number of things.

I have found a few hours to work on the Post Office Trial, much of it spent trying to index my own documents and deal with correspondence.

I’m delighted to say that a number of people have now got in touch with their own stories and I’ve been able to post a few up.

I want this site to be a forum for debate as well as a resource, and publishing as many different voices as I can is an essential part of that.

If you have a moment take a look at:

A serving Subpostmaster writes: “They have no concern for the postmasters whose lives they have ruined”

A WHSmith Post Office manager writes: “they finally admit to a ‘glitch’ in the system”

and

A former Subpostmaster writes: “This was systematic abuse… I lost my business and lost my family”

All are amazing stories.

I am also working on a piece by a Subpostmaster who is currently suspended. He has one or two things to say about the evidence he saw from a Post Office manager who took the witness stand during the recent trial.

These managers have the authority to make decisions on the hoof, which could ruin people’s reputations and livelihoods at a stroke, yet they remain almost completely unaccountable.

This is my last day at ITV News before Christmas. I’m off to do all the usual things: seeing old friends, an early Xmas dinner at my brother-in-law’s, panto with the kids and then hosting Christmas dinner for the first time (eek!)

Whatever you are doing this year, I hope you find the time to relax and enjoy yourself and bring your friends and family close.

I remain very grateful to everyone who has supported this blog since it was set up three months ago. The next three months are going to be very interesting indeed.

Please keep your emails coming, especially if you have something you want publishing. If you want any media to cover this story you have to go to them, tell them what you know and agree to be interviewed, photographed and filmed. Walk in to the reception of your local radio or TV station. Email someone important at a national newspaper. Be proactive.

If you don’t want the media to know about this story, I suspect you probably work for the Post Office.

Have a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year. I’ll see you on the other side!

Yours,

Nick
