J Fraser is going nowhere
Hello secret emailers
Sir Peter Fraser will remain the managing judge of Bates v Post Office until its conclusion.
In a judgment which doesn’t have a single kind word to say about the Post Office, Lord Justice Coulson says everything about J Fraser’s decision not to recuse himself was correct. His ruling contains a litany of adjectives to describe the Post Office’s behaviour and approach which you can read in my piece about all this here.
Other things
Of course all this highly-expensive court dramatics overshadows the stories of the people who still have got nothing out of the Post Office. Earlier today I posted the first part of a story about Pete Murray, a Subpostmaster from the North West of England who has been told he owes the Post Office £35,000. They still haven’t told him how or why, but have already started legal proceedings against him. Just before Christmas last year Pete had a stroke. Please read his story.
Right, it’s very late. I am going to bed.
Have a great weekend.
Nick
