Secret email about the Post Office Scandal. Shh!

The epic tale of one woman’s fight against the Post Office

Feel the crazy

Good evening

On 30 August I published “Trouble Up North (of England) pt 1” – an extraordinary tale about an extraordinary woman who was kidnapped at gunpoint at the age of 16, illegally married in Pakistan, escaped an abusive fiancé in London and found herself in a northern Post Office where the manager was “ransacking” the branch.

Now, I am delighted to bring you Trouble Up North (of England) pt 2, in which our hero is given a choice – become temporary Subpostmaster of her branch or watch it close.

She chooses the former, and her subsequent dealings with the Post Office nearly push her towards a complete breakdown.

It is a tale of operational failure on so many levels it’s scarcely credible, but I’ve seen the emails and the evidence and I’ve done the legwork. I am grateful to our author and her partner for their forbearance in dealing with me.

It’s taken six years to get it this far, and in that time I have been struck by the former Postmaster’s iron determination and polite good humour throughout. I have no idea what will come of this, but I do hope someone will want to dig a little further.

Part 1 is 5,000 words long and Part 2 comes in at an epic 8,000. Make yourself a cup of tea, find a few minutes to yourself and have a read. I’d be interested in your feedback.

Best

Nick
